Programs earn at different rates, so the same number of points isn’t the same amount of spending. Compare what a card earns per dollar in the rewards calculator.
How this calculator works
Published values first
Where a program publishes a fixed redemption, such as 100 Scene+ points for $1 or 95 AIR MILES Cash Miles for $10, the calculator uses it.
These are the same values our credit card rewards calculator uses to rank cards, so the numbers line up across the site.
Estimates where value varies
Airline and hotel points don’t have one fixed value: what you get depends on the flight or stay. For those programs we show a labelled estimate and let you set your own value with the slider.
Values are a guide. Redemption options and rates change, so check your program before you redeem.
Questions
How much are Aeroplan points worth?
It depends on how you redeem them. Flights usually give more value per point than merchandise or gift cards, and the value varies by route, date and cabin. The calculator uses an estimate for economy flights by default, and you can slide it to match the redemption you have in mind.
How much is a Scene+ point worth?
Scene+ points are generally redeemed at 100 points for $1 toward travel and eligible purchases at partners. That makes each point worth about one cent at that redemption rate.
How much are 1,000 PC Optimum points worth?
About $1. PC Optimum points are redeemed at 10,000 points for $10 at participating stores, so 1,000 points is worth roughly $1.
How much are AIR MILES worth?
With AIR MILES Cash, 95 Cash Miles generally get you $10 off at participating partners, or roughly 10.5 cents per mile. Dream Miles redemptions for travel and merchandise vary by reward.
How much are RBC Avion points worth?
Avion points are worth about one cent each when you book travel through RBC, at 100 points for $1. Other redemptions, such as merchandise or statement credits, can be worth less.
Are points or cash back better?
Cash back is simpler because a dollar back is always a dollar. Points can be worth more when redeemed for travel, but only if you use them that way. Compare what each card earns on your spending in the rewards calculator.
Do credit card points expire?
It depends on the program. Many bank and co-branded programs keep points active while your account is open or has recent activity, but rules differ. Check your program’s current terms, especially before closing a card.
Why is the same number of points worth different amounts?
Each program sets its own redemption values, and cards earn points at different rates per dollar. A program with a low value per point often awards more points per dollar, so compare value per dollar spent, not per point.
