TD Rewards is the points program on TD’s travel credit cards. You earn points on card purchases, most of all on travel booked through Expedia For TD, a version of Expedia run for TD cardholders. Then you redeem them for travel, against purchases on your statement, or for other rewards.
TD publishes a fixed rate for each main way to redeem, so you can work out exactly what your points are worth.

Above a category’s yearly cap, spending in it earns the card’s everything-else rate for the rest of the year. On the Platinum and Rewards cards, the recurring bills and streaming categories share one cap.
The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite also gives a yearly Birthday Bonus of 10% of the points you earned on the card in the previous 12 months, up to 10,000 points.

The gap is the whole story with TD Rewards. Spend $10,000 a year on groceries and dining with the First Class card and you earn 60,000 points: $300 on Expedia For TD, about $267 against travel charges, or $150 against everyday purchases.
Redeeming through Expedia For TD
Book on ExpediaForTD.com or by phone and use all or some of your points at checkout, in 200-point steps.
Points you use show up as a credit on your account.
If you pay part of a booking with points and charge the rest, you only earn points on the part you charge.
TD’s welcome guide says there are no blackouts or seat restrictions, subject to carrier or space availability.
Paying off purchases with points
TD’s Pay Off Purchases tool lets you use points against a purchase already on your card. It’s also how you redeem for travel you booked directly with an airline or hotel.
Open RewardsIn the TD app or EasyWeb, go to Rewards and choose Pay Off Purchases.
Pick a purchaseChoose a posted purchase from your last three monthly statements, including the current one.
Choose the pointsUse all or part of the purchase amount. The minimum is $1.
RedeemTD says the credit reaches your account within 2 business days.
Travel purchases get the better rate, 225 points per $1. TD decides what counts as travel from the merchant category code Visa uses: airlines, hotels, car rentals, cruises, travel agencies and tour operators. Everything else is an everyday purchase at 400 points per $1. A credit to your account doesn’t replace your minimum payment.
Other ways to redeem
Amazon.ca Shop with Points: link your TD card to your Amazon.ca account and use points at checkout.
Starbucks Rewards: link your card and convert points into Stars.
Gift cards and merchandise through My TD Rewards.
TD calls these other redemption options limited-time offers that it can change at any time. Its terms only promise a minimum of 400 points per $1, the same as everyday purchases, so check the price in points before you redeem.
Expiry and account rules
TD’s terms say points don’t expire while the account is open, active and in good standing.
If you close a card in good standing, you have 90 days to redeem your points, and your options may be limited.
If TD closes the account, points are forfeited immediately for cardholders outside Quebec. Quebec cardholders get written notice in some cases.
Report any error in your points balance within 30 days of the statement date.
Who TD Rewards suits
It suits TD cardholders who travel and are happy booking through Expedia For TD, where the points are worth the most. The First Class card’s 6 points on groceries and dining works out to 3% back at that rate, which is strong.
If you’d mostly use points against everyday purchases, the value drops by half, and a cash back card will usually pay more. Compare our cash back cards, or see how TD Rewards stacks up against other programs in the points value calculator.
