Blue Rewards is a loyalty program. You collect Blue Points when you shop with partner brands or pay with an eligible BMO card. Then you spend the points on rewards.
It is the new name for AIR MILES. BMO’s own page says the AIR MILES program “has transitioned to Blue Rewards.” The program is run by a BMO company. BMO announced the change in January 2026 and launched it on June 2, 2026.
BMO’s FAQ says your Reward Miles have converted to Blue Points, with no loss in value. You did not need to do anything. Your AIR MILES Collector number is now your Blue Rewards Member number. If you had a BMO AIR MILES card, you kept the same card and card number.
What Blue Points are worth
BMO publishes one clear rate: 1,500 Blue Points = $10. That applies when you redeem in store at participating partners or toward eGift Cards. Standard daily point-use limits and terms apply.
The maths is simple. $10 divided by 1,500 points is about 0.67 cents per point. Put another way, 100 points is worth about 67 cents.

BMO says other kinds of redemption have their own terms and their own rates. That includes some merchandise and travel. We only count the published 1,500-for-$10 rate here, because it is the one with a fixed value.
How you earn Blue Points
There are a few ways to build up points. You can mix them.
Shop with Blue Rewards partners, in store or online. Show your Member card or pay with a linked card.
Pay with an eligible BMO payment card. BMO says Blue Rewards credit cards earn faster on everyday spending like groceries, gas, EV charging and wholesale clubs.
Bank with BMO. The Blue Rewards Chequing Account earns points and can add monthly bonus points when you meet its rules.
Book travel through Blue Rewards Travel, powered by Expedia.
Use card offers from partner brands after you link your Member number to your BMO payment card.
Our page for each card lists the exact earn rates, so we keep them out of this guide. Rates and bonus rules can change.
BMO has named new partners as part of the launch. These include Dollarama, Instacart, Porter Airlines, and several restaurant brands from MTY Group: Thai Express, Mr. Sub, Manchu Wok, Mucho Burrito, Pizza Delight and Jugo Juice. BMO’s release also names Accor brands, including Fairmont, Sofitel and Novotel.
BMO also says you will keep earning at many of the brands you knew from AIR MILES. It says more partners are coming. The partner list changes over time, so check the Blue Rewards site before you plan a purchase around one brand.
Some partner earning is opt-in. BMO’s release describes earning with a linked payment card at some partners, such as 1 point per $1 spent at MTY Group restaurants and at Instacart. These details can change.
If you fly Porter, BMO says VIPorter members can also link their account to earn more VIPorter points each time they fly.
How to redeem your points
BMO says you can redeem for travel, merchandise, eGift Cards, entertainment and in-store purchases.

Travel
Book flights, hotels and car rentals through Blue Rewards Travel. Any amount of points can reduce the cost. Cruises are excluded.
Merchandise and other rewards
Separate terms and rates apply.
Using points for travel
Blue Rewards Travel is powered by Expedia. BMO says you can book flights, hotels and car rentals. Cruises are not included.
BMO says you can use points to pay for a whole trip, including taxes and fees. Pay-at-property fees are excluded. You can also use any amount of points to lower what you pay out of pocket. When you use a mix of a BMO Blue Rewards credit card and points, you pay the rest on the card.
BMO also notes that travel booked before March 16, 2026 falls under older terms. Onyx tier status is not available to members who joined only after the move from AIR MILES to Blue Rewards.
Expiry, limits and rules
We could not confirm a points expiry rule on BMO’s pages, so we do not state one. Check your account and the terms on the Blue Rewards site.
Daily limits: BMO says standard daily points-use limits apply to the 1,500-for-$10 rate.
eGift Card redemptions are final and cannot be returned.
Some bonus points need you to opt in or meet monthly conditions.
Debit card earning on grocery, gas, EV charging and wholesale purchases is capped each month on accounts that are not the Blue Rewards Chequing Account.
BMO’s Blue Rewards credit cards and chequing account have their own fees and terms. Read each product’s page first.
How to get the most value
Join first. It is free, and you do not need a BMO product.
Link your Member number to your BMO payment card to unlock partner offers and extra points.
Show your Member card at partners, even when you pay with a Blue Rewards credit card. BMO says this earns more points on top of your card points.
Use the 1,500-for-$10 rate as your baseline. If a reward costs more than that rate, you are getting less value.
Compare travel prices in cash and in points before you book.
Look at welcome offers and monthly bonuses, but read the conditions. Bonus points often need a minimum balance or spend.
Do not let points sit forever. We could not confirm an expiry rule, so use them on a schedule you set.
Remember that 0.67 cents a point is the floor for the published rate, not a promise for every reward. Always check the terms in your own account.
Who Blue Rewards suits
It can suit people who already shop at partner brands and want something back on everyday spending. It can also suit former AIR MILES collectors who want to keep their balance and Collector number.
Good fit: people who buy groceries, gas and wholesale club goods and want simple, flexible rewards.
Good fit: people who like eGift Cards and in-store rewards at a fixed rate.
Think twice: people who want a high, fixed cash-back rate on every purchase. Compare a cash-back card on our site.
Think twice: people who plan to rely on one partner brand that might change its terms.
Blue Rewards is one program among many. Compare it with other rewards and cash-back cards before you decide.
