How much will you earn in CT Money?
How much will I earn in CT Money?
You’d earn about$5.00 in CT Money$1 in CT Money = $1 at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark’s and other partner stores. Rates vary by card, so pick yours above for its exact rates.
Triangle Rewards is Canadian Tire’s loyalty program. Members collect electronic Canadian Tire Money (CT Money) when they shop at participating Canadian Tire family stores, on canadiantire.ca and on fuel, then spend it on merchandise at the same stores. The program is run by Canadian Tire Corporation.
CT Money is worth its face value at partner stores: $1 in CT Money takes $1 off merchandise, and the terms say it can cover applicable taxes too. That makes the program easy to value: 4% back in CT Money is worth 4% of what you spend, as long as you’d shop at those stores anyway.

The grocery rate applies to stores coded as grocery (Mastercard merchant code 5411) and excludes Costco and Walmart. Above $12,000 a year in grocery spending, the rate drops to 1%. Fuel earns on whole litres, rounded down, and Canadian Tire says the rate can vary by location.
The World Elite card needs a minimum of $80,000 in personal income or $150,000 in household income, and includes a Canadian Tire Roadside Assistance Gold plan once you activate it.
In stores, CT Money is worked out on the pre-tax purchase amount. The terms also say you can collect at a different rate depending on whether you pay with a Triangle credit card or just show your Triangle Rewards card.
How to redeem CT Money
Shop at a partner storeRedeem in store at Canadian Tire and the other partner banners, or where Canadian Tire allows it online.
Show your card or appPresent your Triangle Rewards card, Triangle credit card or the app to the cashier when you pay.
Choose how much to useUse CT Money for all or part of the purchase, including taxes, and pay the rest another way.
CT Money earned on a purchase can’t be used on that same transaction.
It can’t be used on alcohol, tobacco, gift cards or prepaid cards, to pay a Canadian Tire Bank credit card or loan, or on financial or insurance products.
You can combine CT Money with paper Canadian Tire Money, but you can’t collect paper money and electronic CT Money on the same purchase.
Return something you bought with CT Money and the CT Money goes back to your account rather than coming back as cash.

Expiry and account rules
Inactivity: the terms let Canadian Tire expire your CT Money after 18 months or more with neither a transaction where you collect CT Money nor one where you redeem it.
Closing your membership: ending your Triangle Rewards membership closes the account and cancels all CT Money in it.
Program changes: Canadian Tire can cancel the program, or set a date after which CT Money can’t be used, except for members in Quebec, Ontario or other provinces where that isn’t allowed.
No cash value: CT Money can’t be exchanged for cash or transferred.
Getting the most from Triangle Rewards
Put Canadian Tire, Sport Chek and Mark’s purchases on a Triangle card for the 4%.
Fill up at Gas+ or Petro-Canada with the card for 5¢ a litre.
Use the World Elite card for groceries if you qualify, since 3% beats many no-fee grocery cards up to the $12,000 cap.
Spend CT Money on things you’d buy anyway, such as tires, oil changes or household supplies.
Watch for Triangle bonus offers, which Canadian Tire says stack with flyer offers and Bonus Days.
Who Triangle Rewards suits
It suits drivers and families who shop at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek or Mark’s every few weeks and fill up at Gas+ or Petro-Canada. For them, CT Money is close to cash, and the no-fee cards add a solid rate on store spending and fuel.
If you rarely shop in the Canadian Tire family of stores, rewards you can spend anywhere are worth more. Compare our cash back cards and grocery cards.
